Crowds are filling downtown Appleton for Octoberfest.

The party started Friday night with the License to Cruise event. Over 50,000 people are expected to walk along College Avenue to enjoy cars, live music, food and drinks.

This year's showcase includes more than 400 classic cars. For many of those taking part it's a time to connect with their community and it's an experience they don't want to miss.

College Avenue shut down between Drew and Lawe Streets on Friday afternoon to get ready for License to Cruise and will remain closed for the rest of the festival.

License to Cruise is a family friendly, non-alcoholic event. It runs until 9:30 Friday night. The opening ceremony for day two of Octoberfest starts Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in Houdini Plaza.

You can enjoy live music, food, arts and crafts and more until 6 p.m. non-profits have 80 food booths to raise money for their organizations.
