MANITOWOC COUNTY (NBC 26) -- David Heiden was sentenced to life in prison Monday morning in Manitowoc County Court. He will be eligible for parole after 25 years.

In November, he pleaded guilty to one count of physical abuse of a child, repeated acts causing death. This conviction carries a mandatory life in prison requirement.

Last year, Heiden was one of three people arrested in connection to two-year-old Gilbert Grant's death. The child was found dead in April at an apartment in Two Rivers.

Among the other two people charged in the toddler's death is Rena Santiago, who has been identified as Grant's mother. A plea date in her case has been scheduled for February 20. The other woman charged, Bianca Bush, is due back in court on March 4.
