The WIAA boys and girls baskeball tournaments were canceled late Thursday night, but two top teams are not letting that stop their celebrations.

The Wrightstown and Platteville girls basketball teams came together for a group photo at the Resch Center Friday morning. The two teams were set to play in the Division 3 state championship on Thursday had the tournament not been canceled.

"I think it's really good that us and Platteville can come together instead of being mad that we didn't get our opportunity to play," Wrightstown senior Ella Diny said. "Platteville is a good team. (They have) girls with good sportsmanship so it was good to just come together and congratulate each other for how far we've come."

"You know it's really what sports are all about - to create camaraderie," Wrightstown head coach Mike Froehlke added. "To create relationships with people. It's really inspiring and we're thankful."

Players from both teams said they were disappointed they didn't get a chance to complete their seasons - but understand the WIAA's decision.
