Appleton man indicted with 2 counts of distributing child pornography

APPLETON (NBC 26) ⁠— Casey Welk was indicted with two counts of Distributing Child Pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Matthew D. Krueger of the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

U.S. Attorney Krueger said Welk was arraigned before the federal district court in Green Bay on Thursday.

Welk was a part-time Community Service Officer for Grand Chute Police before being arrested for 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography in December 2019. According to the criminal complaint, he had been uploading pornographic images of children onto Instagram and sharing the photos with other site users.

U.S. Attorney Krueger announced Welk was indicted by a federal grand jury for two counts of Distributing Child Pornography on September 15. Each charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to 20 years of incarceration in federal prison.
