GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) The Fox River Classic Conference (FRCC), one of the largest high school sports conferences in northeast Wisconsin, will not be playing sports this fall.
The superintendents of the FRCC's schools voted 9-1 to move all sports to spring, an option provided by the WIAA after a vote last week. The move was made to "ensure the health and safety of our fall athletes," according to Garry H. Sievert, the conference's commissioner.
Notre Dame Academy was the one school in the conference to vote no. The school's athletic director, Matt Koenig, told NBC 26 that Notre Dame still plans to look for options outside of the FRCC to play this fall.
While the FRCC has ten member schools, the move affects 14 schools for football. West De Pere, Green Bay East and West and Menasha joined the conference for football only this fall.
