Thanks to "Grandpa Terry" the Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary opens their doors to new neonatal unit

Posted

Just a few steps through the shelter, lies a project, owner Elizabeth Feldhausen has only dreamed about.

"Its something we never imagined we'd be able to do" said Feldhausen.

At the new neonatal unit, kittens get the TLC needed to get back to normal and healthy again.

Ethel and Lucy, two week old sisters are being taken care of with lots of love.

"They have a lot of energy" said Jillian Dawson, the sanctuary's kitten expert. The unit, brought on by the viral post by Grandpa Terry, who was pictured taking a nap with cats on the couch.

"He helped us fund this whole new area, it's an extra thousand square feet, so now we're able to have a neonatal unit, two extra quarantine rooms, an exam area, so when our vets come in we have a nice table and a light.," said Feldhausen. She adds, they raised over $62,000, the unit cost just over $4,500.

There is a lot of work that goes into raising baby kittens, "weigh them everyday, bottle feed them, they need to be stimulated to go to the bathroom" said Dawsom.
