A Manitowoc man is under arrest following an early morning deputy chase with a pick-up truck involving spike strips.

Around 2 a.m. Thursday in Manitowoc Rapids, the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office says a deputy tried to pull over a pick-up truck on County Road JJ.

As the deputy walked towards the truck, the Sheriff's Office says the truck sped away. Later down the road, deputies set up spike strips; however, while the strips deflated all four tires, the Sheriff's Office says the driver kept going.

The Sheriff's Office says the driver then turned into a driveway and then into a cut corn field. While in the field, deputies used a PIT maneuver. This maneuver stopped the truck and deputies arrested the suspect.

The Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as 38-year-old Steve Mier from Manitowoc. He was arrested on felony charges and cited for several driving violations. The Sheriff's Office says Mier also had three active warrants.

During the chase, the Sheriff's Office says the truck reached speeds of up to 105 mph. While there was some minor vehicle damage, no one was seriously hurt.
