A registered sex offender has been indicted for child sex offenses and faces a mandatory life sentence.

Brian Wickersham was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury. He was charged with attempted to coerce a minor to engage in sexual activity and with taking a minor across state lines for sex.

The state U.S. Attorney's Office says Wickersham was previously convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child in Milwaukee County Circuit Court. Due to this conviction he is a lifetime sex offender registrant under the laws of Wisconsin.

Due to his status as a sex offender, he also faces a third charge for committing a felony sex offense while being a registered offender.

If convicted of the charges, Wickersham faces a mandatory life sentence.
