The mother of a toddler found wandering alone in Neenah Tuesday will face charges, according to the Neenah Police Department.

The charges will relate to child neglect, an officer told NBC26.

A woman driving at Lake and Main Street Tuesday around 9 a.m. saw the child, who police believed to be around 2-3 years old, walking alone wearing just a diaper and sweatshirt.

Police were searching for the child's family for nearly six hours before the mom called officers, saying she had overslept, police said.

Because it is still an ongoing investigation, police could not release more details about what led to the child getting out of the house.
