An Appleton teenager who could spend up to 40 years in prison for an alleged bank robbery appeared in Calumet County court Wednesday.
Joshua Xiong is accused of robbing the Huntington Bank in Appleton last week.
Xiong and his family already posted the $7,500 bond and so he is not currently in jail
Xiong is accused of slipping an Appleton bank teller a note last Thursday that claimed he had a gun and wanted cash.
According to the criminal complaint, Xiong made off with more than $2,000 and then ditched the clothes he was wearing in an Appleton park.
Investigators said they found the clothes and an I.D. of Xiong's at that park and arrested him a short time later. They found a bag of cash in his mother's car, court documents said.
Xiong allegedly told police he did rob the bank, but had a hatchet in his pocket and not a gun.
He also told investigators he robbed the bank to help his family pay bills.
He'll be back in court June 8.
