Local pharmacists said the time is now to get your flu shot.
Even though the flu is widespread in 49 states experts said the peak could still be coming in February or March.
The pharmacy at Shopko in Ashwaubenon has seen an influx of patients getting the shot.
They gave out 10 flu shots at the one location over the weekend.
Experts said there are advantages to getting the vaccine at the pharmacy.
"Usually it takes a lot less time," said Oscar Espanol, a pharmacist at Shopko. "You just fill out a form and the prescription is treated like any other prescription. The pharmacist administers the shot right away."
No appointments are necessary.
The pharmacists also said even though the first line of defense is getting the flu shot, good hygiene is equally important.
