BROWN COUNTY (NBC 26) -- An "attempted robbery" reported over the weekend didn't actually happen, the Brown County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
The incident was originally reported Saturday on the 2100 block of Webster Avenue. After further investigation, and a subsequent statement from the reporting person, authorities said they have determined there was no attempted robbery and investigators are no longer seeking any suspects in this case.
There was no knife displayed and the reporting person never retrieved his gun.
The Sheriff's Office is closing the case and is referring charges to the District Attorney’s office for the false information provided to officers. The Sheriff's Office said no one's identity will be released until until the District Attorney’s Office has reviewed the reports.
