ASHWAUBENON, Wis. — The people of Brown County get to say their final goodbyes to the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena on Monday, as officials held one last open house before the arena gets torn down.
Some people at the arena on Monday say their favorite events inside the building, ranging from Ozzy Osbourne to KISS to monster truck rallies. Officials say they wanted to hold this event, so people can say goodbye and celebrate the end of an era.
"I remember my mom came here and she saw Elvis Presley here,” says Bill Kabacinski. “But for me the best show that I saw was Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica."
"I am going to miss it, I spent many a time on a Saturday in the winter time going there," says Robert Weidenhaft.
Crews will begin to tear down the arena that was built in the late 1950s. Once it is removed they will begin construction on a new expo center that is currently scheduled to be opened in 2021.
