The homicide trial for James Prokopovitz began Monday in Brown County court. He's charged in connection to the 2013 murder of his wife, Victoria.
On Monday, the attorneys' opening statements gave two different versions of what happened to Victoria. Prosecutors said Prokopovitz was the last person to see his wife alive and pointed to statements he made that his wife was dead and, “never coming back.”
The defense said Victoria suffered from mental health issues, attempted suicide twice, and that James had nothing to do with her disappearance.
Victoria's body has never been found. The trial will continue Tuesday.
