GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) — Saturday, local police warned drivers of the hazardous driving conditions that will effect the area for the next several days. They said to go slow and use extra caution when approaching intersections, slowing or stopping.
The Green Bay Police Department explained the frigid arctic air mass in the area is causing extremely low temperatures. These temperatures then prevent road salt from effectively melting ice, resulting in slipper roads.
Additionally, the Brown County Sheriff's Office said a large number of plows are out clearing the roads as best they can. Because of the consistently freezing temperatures it has been a challenge for the plows to clear secondary roads.
The Brown Co. Communications Center is receiving a large number of calls regarding road conditions. Please know that a large contingent of plows are out & doing the best they can to clean off the roads. Due to the frigid temps, clearing secondary roads has been challenging.
