TITLETOWN (NBC 26) — The Green Bay Packers welcomed 18 teams from across Wisconsin to Titletown for the seventh annual Exceptional Abilities Challenge on Friday.

Athletes from Special Olympics, Aspiro and the Challenger League competed in flag football games throughout the day while reconnecting with friends and meeting new people.

Several athletes said one of the highlights was getting to see Packers players and alumni in person.

“They come and talk to you about football about being here, and you get to see some old Packers players too,” said Eric Chmelka.

“It feels good to just hang out with everybody,” said Sean Stoeger.

Dennis Ridgeway said he enjoys the freedom and excitement of participating in the event.

“Awesome! It’s awesome, because I like coming out here and doing my football stuff and there isn’t anybody telling me what not to do,” Ridgeway said.

Sarah Hoes said she enjoys both the competition and the friendships built through the games.

“I’ve been really enjoying flag football and getting to see all of my friends,” Hoes said.

After the games, athletes received medals, and some qualified for the upcoming Special Olympics state tournament. Competitions are scheduled throughout the summer and fall.
