OSHKOSH (NBC 26) -- A teen suspect accused of stabbing a school resource officer will remain in jail for the foreseeable future.

The Winnebago County District Attorney's Office confirmed Friday that a probable cause statement has been signed, which approves holding the suspect in jail for "a reasonable amount of time".

The suspect is a student at Oshkosh West High School, where police said he stabbed resource officer Michael Wissink on Tuesday. Police said Wissink then shot the suspect. Both were taken to the hospital.

The Winnebago County Sheriff confirmed that the suspect has since been taken to the Winnebago County Jail. He faces attempted homicide charges.
