OSHKOSH (NBC 26) -- The superintendent of the Oshkosh Area School District addressed the media before students head back to class for the first time since an officer-involved shooting at Oshkosh West High School.

In an early morning news conference Friday, Superintendent Vickie Cartwright said there will be more police and resources available for students as they return to the classroom. She said this is not because they believe there will be a threat, but to show they are there for the students.

Superintendent Cartwright said they're working to make the process as smooth as possible so that students and staff feel as safe and comfortable.

She said she's grateful for the outpouring of love and support. She also commented on Officer Wissink's condition, saying he is in recovery mode and they look forward to seeing him soon.
