NEENAH (NBC 26) -- The Neenah community is mourning a Neenah High School student who died after being struck by a minivan.
Authorities say it happened near Tuller Road and West Winnecone Avenue at 8 a.m. Thursday
The student was pronounced dead at the scene. The school district moved almost all counseling staff to the high school in response to the tragedy.
Neenah High School students were officially told what happened via video announcement before being released for lunch.
The Neenah Joint School District released a statement:
The entire Neenah Joint School District is shocked and saddened by the tragic death of one of our high school students today. We offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Our counselors and staff are here to support those affected by this tragedy. We are grieving alongside our entire community following this devastating news.
