Kathleen Zellner, Steven Avery's attorney, announced her team has filed a motion to ask for new testing of bones related to Avery's case. Steven Avery was convicted for the murder of Teresa Halbach back in 2007 in Manitowoc County.
In a series of tweets posted Monday afternoon, Zellner says a DNA expert is willing to test the bones with new technology not previously available.
"If this testing is allowed," Zellner tweets, "we believe the bones will be Ms. Halbach's."
Zellner says her team just filed a motion on Monday asking the Appellate Court to remand the case for this testing to take place.
Zellner says the testing, "will prove the murder and mutilation occurred in the Manitowoc County Gravel Pit and the bones were planted in Mr. Avery's burn pit to frame him."
We are pleased to announce that one of the world's leading DNA experts, Dr. Richard Selden @drrichardselden, is willing to test the bones in the Manitowoc County Gravel Pit with new Rapid DNA ID. If this testing is allowed, we believe the bones will be Ms. Halbach's.
