GREEN BAY, Wis. — Green Bay Police are giving an update on K9 Pyro, the police dog stabbed during a suspect arrest earlier this month.

In a Facebook update, police say Pyro continues to improve, and is now able to eat soft food without the feeding tube.

"His fluid drains have been removed but he is still wearing his compression vest. Officer Salzmann is providing around-the-clock care for his partner Pyro, keeping Pyro safe and calm," the post says.

Police also say veterinarians have been visiting Pyro at home and they are pleased with his progress.

"We are optimistic that he will be able to return to work as a GBPD K-9 in the future," police say.
