GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) -- It's a big day for the community and nonprofits. This year's Give BIG Green Bay kicks off Tuesday at noon.

It's the third annual Give BIG Green Bay. Beginning at noon, people can donate online to 40 different local nonprofits. Give BIG Green Bay is a 24 hour event. It will end Wednesday, February 19th at noon. During that time, people can make a big difference in our community. Last year, more than $1.3 million was given to nonprofits.

Give BIG Green Bay is a partnership between the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and the Green Bay Packers Foundation.

"The Packers have provided a $250 thousand grant which will allow those dollars to go even further and the total matching pool now exceeds more than $362 thousand," said Dennis Buehler, President and CEO of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation,

Buehler said there 60 percent of the 40 nonprofits are new this year to Give BIG Green Bay.

Eye Heart World is one of the organizations taking part this year. They also were part of Give BIG Green Bay two years ago.

"This is a great opportunity for us as Eye Heart World to continue helping people understand what's going on in the community, but also what they can do about it," said Brian Russo, the co-founder of Eye Heart World, a nonprofit working to combat sex trafficking through awareness, prevention, and recovery.

Eye Heart World has various donation levels during Give BIG Green Bay.

"Everything ranging from prevention training materials for at risk teens, to emergency intervention resources for trafficking survivors who are recovering in the area, all the way to ongoing support for survivors we are serving," added Russo.

Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary was part of Give BIG Green Bay for the last two years. The nonprofit had the most donors last year during the online event. They aren't involved this year, but we talked with Marcus Reitz, HEA's branding and development director about what the last two years have helped them do.

"It gave us the ability to really look more strategically at some of the things we were doing and to be able to invest infrastructure and things that are going to help us continue to grown our mission and carry our work forward," added Reitz.
