GREEN LAKE COUNTY, Wis. — A Green Lake man reacted to an update Tuesday in the case of three people found dead last week after a Fond du Lac home fire.
Keith Frederick’s sister, 72-year-old Donna Frederick, was among those killed.
The Thursday blaze was caused by a cigarette that was not put out, according to a Fond du Lac Fire Rescue official.
“It’s a shame, is what it is,” Donna’s brother, Keith Frederick, said about the situation.
Along with Donna Frederick, 24-year-old Taylor J. Lavallee and 53-year-old Lisa M. Eastham were found dead after the fire along the 600 block of South Military Avenue, officials said.
The home’s residents had mental disabilities, authorities said last week. The property owner said the individuals rented space in the home.
“I know that there’s life after death,” Keith Frederick said.
“I know [Donna’s] in a good place.”
Donna grew up on the Frederick family farm, between Marquette and Markesan in Green Lake County.
She listened to The Beatles growing up and was working on a book, Keith Frederick said. He did not know the subject.
She moved out about 15 years ago, Keith said.
The brother and sister’s most recent conversation was about a week ago, Keith said.
“ ‘I’m alright, and Keith don’t worry about me,’” Donna told him, Keith recalled.
