GREEN BAY -- Following flooding on Wednesday, Brown County and Green Bay city leaders are watching Thursday night’s weather situation closely, ready to act if necessary.
The East River roads are open, but as a sign of the rain that may be coming, traffic cones and signs have been left on the side of the road in case water gets onto the street again.
Officials in emergency management want to remind people that if they see barricades, do not try to get past them and do not drive on that road. The water on the East River is high right now, meaning any heavy rainfall Thursday night could quickly flood roads like what the area saw Wednesday.
If that happens, emergency management officials say they’ll be ready to go.
"We're monitoring the situation already,” said Brown County Emergency Management Interim Director Lauri Maki. “Public safety personnel from all over the county are very aware of the high-water levels and the potential for rainfall tonight, so it's just staying prepared and staying ready."
Emergency management say people in flood prone areas can also get ready. Maki recommends people get a preparedness kit at their house in case water keeps them inside for the night and into the morning.
