GREEN BAY -- The City of Green Bay issued an emergency alert on its website over the flooding impacting the area Wednesday.
On Wednesday afternoon, the City of Green Bay asked people not to use household appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers. The city says the sewer system is stressed due to the flooding and appliances like dishwashers send more water into the sewer pipe system at a critical time.
"NEWWater is requesting that if possible, please hold off using these appliances until the rain subsides. This should help give the pipes some much-needed relief," the city says in their website alert.
The City says Police, Fire and Public Works crews have been monitoring water levels, and have found that waters are rising along both the Fox and East River areas.
Residents who live in flood-prone areas are advised to take precautions. If flooding has compromised your structure or touched your furnace or any part of your electrical system, do not say in your home.
Drivers are asked to remember "Turn Around, Don't Drown" when coming across a flooded roadway.
