SHAWANO (NBC 26) — An Associate Principal at Bonduel Middle/High School was charged Wednesday with multiple counts of sexual assault of a child, court records show.
Kaitlyn Hintz, 32, was placed on administrative leave Friday, Oct. 16 and arrested Monday after investigators said they received a tip on Friday through Speak Up/Speak Out Wisconsin regarding allegations of sexual misconduct by the staff member.
On Wednesday, Hintz was charged with repeated sexual assault of the same child, second-degree sexual assault of a child, and child enticement.
According to a criminal complaint, the alleged relationship between Hintz and the victim began in October 2024, during the victim's sophomore year at Bonduel High School. The victim was 15 years old at the time, the complaint states.
The complaint states investigators interviewed the student and Hintz on the same day the tip was received. Hintz initially denied sexual contact with the victim but acknowledged meeting them off campus on multiple occasions.
Detectives later reviewed the student's cellphone and found several text messages from a number tied to Hintz, which included romantic language and references to prior sexual encounters at Hintz's Green Bay home.
During a follow-up interview Monday at the Shawano County Sheriff's Office, Hintz was read her Miranda rights and confronted with the text messages, according to the complaint. When asked directly whether she had engaged in sexual activity with the student, Hintz did not deny it, the complaint states. She was arrested shortly after.
The complaint states additional charges may be sought. Investigators are also communicating with Brown County, where some of the alleged offenses occurred, according to the complaint.
Hintz is scheduled to appear before a judge at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Shawano County courthouse.
