TOWN OF PEMBINE, Wis. — Marinette County Sheriff says a man called dispatch Sunday night saying he had shot his wife and she was dead.

The woman killed has been identified by deputies as 63-year-old Shelley M. Erickson/Rogge of Pembine.

As of Tuesday morning, the suspect was currently in custody awaiting formal charges. NBC26 is choosing not to name him until those charges have come down.

Dispatch received a call shortly before 11:00 p.m. Sunday from a man in Pembine. Deputies responded to an address on Petite Lane where the sheriff says they did find a 63-year-old woman dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The caller, a 55-year-old man, was arrested and taken to the Marinette County Jail.

The Sheriff says this is an isolated incident and the public isn't in any danger.
