APPLETON, Wis. — Appleton Police are relaunching their Neighborhood Watch program to curb crime. Social media has changed how neighborhood watch programs connect to the community.
The Appleton Police Department is hosting an open house next week for anyone who's interested in learning about the new tools available.
Police officials say it's a great way for neighbors to reconnect.
“How can we be more proactive instead of just reactive to everything that happens,” said Meghan Cash, Appleton Police’s PIO. “And for neighborhood watch, that is the basis of that is the crime prevention aspect for us to be able to connect with people, but for people to connect with each other as well."
Next Door is a mobile app designed to make it easy for communities to connect and learn what they can do to solve problems in their neighborhood. The neighborhood watch open house will be held Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the Appleton Police Department.
