APPLETON (NBC 26) -- The Appleton Police Department is asking the community to wear pink Tuesday to honor a 3-year-old homicide victim who will be laid to rest.

Police said Zyana Corbin was murdered February 26th. A 25-year-old Appleton man identified as Demetrius L. Williams has been charged with first degree intentional homicide and two counts of attempted homicide.

According to a previously filed criminal complaint, Williams told police he was upset that the child's mother was breaking up with him.

"It was his intention to kill the mom and daughter that night and he had been thinking and planning ways to kill them," the criminal complaint said.

A GoFundMe page has been established by Zyana’s family to help with the expenses associated with a funeral.

The Appleton Police Department said a service for Zyana will be held Tuesday morning. The police department is asking the Appleton community to wear something pink Tuesday to show support for her family and friends.

The police department also said lighting outside of the department building will be changed to pink for the next several nights.

"There are wicked things that occur in this world that none of us can understand, but when they happen we need to come together to support each other and those who are hurting," the police department wrote in a Facebook post.

The lights in Houdini Plaza and at the Fox Cities Exposition Center will also be changed to pink, police said.
