According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), 71 of Wisconsin's 72 counties now have documented active eagle nests.
In 1970, bald eagles were listed as an endangered species. Since that happened, changes have been made to help protect these creatures. By 2007, bald eagles were removed from all endangered species lists.
To this day, 71 of the 72 Wisconsin counties have active eagle nests. The only county without a documented nest is Milwaukee County, according to the DNR.
Now, that's not to say there aren't any nests in Milwaukee County. It simply means no one has reported them to the DNR. That's why the DNR is asking that anyone who suspects a new or small nest may be in their yard or near their home, reports it.
