A 4-year-old girl picked up her 33-year-old father's handgun on Sunday, accidentally shooting herself and him.
The incident happened about 10:15 a.m. in the 3600 block of South 61st Street.
Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at local hospitals.
The father of the child initially lied to police about the circumstances of the shooting. Criminal charges will be presented to the District Attorney's Office in regards to him in the coming days.
