Hunted buck had extra head locked in antlers

Posted

A buck, killed by a hunter in Kentucky, had a decomposing head locked in its antlers.

Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources shared two pictures of what they're calling a unique harvest in Ballard County, Kentucky.

Kentucky Dept. of Fish and Wildlife says the hunter, Bob Long, saw big antlers when he took aim at his buck at a distance, but what he found upon recovery was astounding: the buck was carrying around a head of another deer that was already decomposing. The decomposing head was locked in the antlers of the buck killed.

Officials say it's unclear exactly what circumstances led up to this buck's carrying around another set of antlers and part of a decomposing carcass.
