Elderly man dies after truck goes through ice in Marinette County

The man who died after his truck went through the ice in Marinette County has been identified as 79-year-old Herbert Lax Jr. of Green Bay. 

The call came in just before 9 p.m. Friday that a vehicle went through the ice on Lake Noquebay off Maple Beach Road. 

Rescue crews found a red truck and the body of a man partially out of the vehicle on the bottom of the lake in about twelve feet of water. 

The Marinette County Sheriff's dive team members recovered the body of an elderly man who is believed to have been alone in his truck when it went down. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Sheriff's Office and Coroner continue to investigate. 

The name of the victim is not being released until next of kin is notified. 

The Sheriff's Office is warning people that ice conditions are deteriorating.
