Green Bay, Wi -- March 14 (3/14) is celebrated annually as pi day because the date resembles the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter - this year, some math lovers have already started calling it "rounded pi day," rounding up those four digits to 3.14.16.
Students at king elementary school in green bay spent pi day exploring the m in stem. Stem stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. With activities from making “Pi” bracelets to building models, the day was filled with Mathematics fun.
And for mathematician, Emily Teller it's how she fell in love with math: through great teaching.
“To have someone make that fun a relatable to me was amazing… anytime kids are actively touching math they are going to be more interested” Says Teller.
Allowing kids to know there's more to numbers than just "my dear aunt sally"(Multiplication division addition and subtraction). The event had actual pie as well, as students were able to make pie as they learned about the mathematical pi.
