Wisconsin COVID-19 cases continue to rise, death count close to 900

Wisconsin health officials reported 957 new cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday afternoon, bringing the state total at 48,827 people who have tested positive for the virus.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) said 9.6% of the almost 10,000 tests came back positive, this is up from Saturday's 6.7%.

According to the DHS, almost 78% of people who had tested positive are now recovered. There is an estimated 9,674 cases still active across the state.

State health officials said one more person has died in relation to the virus, bringing the death count close to 900 people.

Another 26 people with the virus were hospitalized, bringing the total to 4,394 people or 9% of those who tested positive.
