MADISON (NBC 26) -- While not as high as Thursday's record-breaking case count, Wisconsin DHS reported 2,988 new cases of coronavirus Friday.
This brings the state's total to 144,818. About 80% of those cases are listed as recovered, with 27,516 cases listed as active in the state.
Sixteen more deaths related to COVID-19 were reported Friday, bringing the state's death toll to 1,440.
The number of people ever hospitalized for the virus climbed to 8,199 on Friday, an increase of 138.
