MADISON (NBC 26) -- For the second time this month, Wisconsin has broken the record for new cases of coronavirus reported in a single day.

Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 3,132 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, the highest number of new cases the state has recorded since the pandemic began. The last record was set on October 3, with 2,892 new cases.

This now brings Wisconsin's total number of confirmed cases to 141,830, with 80.1% of those cases listed as recovered. There are currently 26,774 cases listed as active in the state.

Wisconsin's coronavirus death toll is now at 1,424, an increase of nine. The number of people ever hospitalized for coronavirus in the state is now at 8,061, an increase of 110.

This comes the same week that Gov. Tony Evers issued a new order to limit public indoor gatherings to slow the spread of the virus. Additionally, ThedaCare said Wednesday its hospital beds are near capacity for inpatient and COVID-19 patients.
