BROWN COUNTY (NBC 26) -- In the latest update on coronavirus in Brown County, officials are releasing a new document to help guide businesses to reopen safely.
Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach said the plan offers guidelines for food and manufacturing businesses, as well as offices and retail places. County leaders said it helps give more specific recommendations for businesses to lean on and follow. The full plan can be found here; the recommendations are written in English and Spanish.
The public can also expect business openings in De Pere to begin expanding services. De Pere Mayor James Boyd said within the next couple of days, he'll be using his state of emergency powers to help businesses open up outside. This will allow restaurants, taverns and bars to open up outside with chairs and tables. Boyd said it's something other communities have been doing across the state, and will help push businesses outside safely.
As of Tuesday, Brown County has a total of 2,270 cases of coronavirus, with the Oneida Nation reporting 37. The number of total cases is an increase of 50 from Friday.
Twenty-nine people are currently hospitalized; 775 people are out of isolation, meaning they're no longer considered a threat of spreading the virus. Brown County also reported its 33rd coronavirus-related death Tuesday, an 83-year-old man who lived in the 54302 zip code.
With community testing sites in the county now closed, health officials report the Resch Center conducted 470 tests Friday and Casa ALBA conducted 211 tests, for a total of 681. For the three weeks of testing between the two sites, 12,928 people were tested.
Anyone wishing to get tested is asked to consult their primary health care providers.
