APPLETON (NBC 26) — The Appleton Health Department said 10 people tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.

According to the Department, nine of the newly confirmed cases live in the Outagamie County portion of the city and one lives within the Winnebago County portion.

Health officials said three people had contact with a known case and the other seven cases were through community spread. One person is hospitalized while the other nine self-isolate.

Appleton has seen a total of 186 confirmed coronavirus cases. Currently 75 people are in isolation and 107 people have since recovered. Four have passed away from the virus.

The Department is conducting contact investigations to identify and follow-up with any people who had close contact with the newly confirmed cases.

"We can assume that while the number of positive cases continues to rise, there are still more cases in Appleton, which have not been confirmed," said the Appleton Health Department. "Following guidelines from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and CDC will help slow the spread of the virus."
