After suffering a shoulder injury in the first quarter, Packers linebacker Clay Matthews returned to Monday night's game against the Eagles in the second quarter.

Matthews left the game earlier on the Eagles' first offensive drive after taking what he calls a "cheap shot" from Eagles offensive lineman Allen Barbre.

Matthews was evaluated by trainers on the sideline, then returned to the game briefly before being taken back to the locker room.

With 3:28 left in the first half, Matthews returned to the game.

In an interview a day and a half later, Matthews said, "I'm still in some pain, no doubt about it."

Matthews reported that nothing is broken, but there is a significant amount of swelling and bruising.

When asked if the play was legal, Matthews responded by saying "I don't know. They didn't throw a flag, probably because I'm not a quarterback. I know all about that."

The Packers have been hit hard by injuries and are already playing without two starting linebackers.

Coach Mike McCarthy says he "fully expects [Matthews] to play on Sunday."

Matthews weighed in as well, saying "we've got some work to do" before the next game.
