Authorities continue searching for Jayme Closs

Posted

Starting next week, the Barron County Sheriff says they may try a different investigative strategy to try to solve the shooting deaths of Jayme Closs' parents and hopefully bring the missing 13-year-old home safe.

Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald says they're now about 35 days into their investigation and they're still receiving about 25 tips from across the country every day.

The sheriff says federal and state agents are still on the ground in Barron and he speaks regularly with investigators in Green Bay, Milwaukee, Wausau and Eau Claire. But so far, none of the tips or interviews they've conducted have led to a break in the case.

"Lots of frustration,” Sheriff Fitzgerald says. “I go to sleep very frustrated and when I wake up, I hope today's the day. That little glimmer of hope comes back, but there is a lot of frustration that we don't have a direction to take this case."

Sheriff Fitzgerald says next week investigators may expand their digital search by going farther back in time into phone records to see if there are any new clues.

They also plan to re-interview some people and continue examining social media. The sheriff says this is still a very active case and their number one priority is to bring Jayme home.
