Ashwaubenon turkey getting national attention

Posted

A rogue turkey in the village of Ashwaubenon is becoming a sensation around the world.

The turkey, named "Smoke", was recently featured in an article in the Washington Post. The big bird frequents a busy intersection in Ashwaubenon.

Neighbors say he's very friendly and will walk up to cars and greet people in the street.

“He'll follow cars, he'll race cars,” says resident Tammy Czachor. “I've seen him fly down the street, I swear he was going like 25 miles an hour following a car. People on bicycles, kids getting off the school bus. He'll chase after them, but he won't attack."

Smoke even has his own Facebook page, dubbing him the unofficial mayor of Ashwaubenon.
