DULUTH, MN (KBJR6)

A winter storm warning has been issued for Northern Minnesota, with advisories and watches for the South Shore and Upper Peninsula.

Chief Meteorologist Adam Clark at our sister station KBJR6 says due to the amount of moisture in the air and the warm temperatures, lots of snow should be expected.

Clark says the storm system will arrive Friday, bringing wind as well as snow.

Areas along the Borderland and the Iron Range should expect anywhere from nine to fifteen inches of snow.

In the Duluth area, rain will transition to snow in the mid to late afternoon, with snow totals around six inches on the hill, and one to three inches closer to the lake.

Northwest Wisconsin is expected to receive one to four inches of snow on Friday, with some lake effect snow for the South Shore and the Upper Peninsula on Saturday.

Snow totals for those areas on Saturday should be an additional 1-3 inches.

Highs will be in the mid to low 30's in Minnesota and low 40's in Northwest Wisconsin.

Winds are expected to be from the north at 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph in Minnesota.

In Wisconsin, winds should be from the northeast at 10-20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph.

On Saturday, morning lows should be in the low 20's, so icy roads should be expected, with highs in the low 30's.
