Borchardt was elected city alderman in 2020 and has served as president since 2022. He is also a teacher in the Neenah school district.

This comes since falling short in Neenah's 2022 mayoral election to mayor Jane Lang.

"The last six years I really truly felt that we built on those relationships. It's about a we, it's not a me, the city is not about one person it's all of our individuals that work not only in city hall but on your roads,' Borchardt said, 'I tried to show that in my campaign and the people seemed to say that's what we want."
