A De Pere woman will stand trial for allegedly stabbing a man she met through a Craigslist ad.  25-year-old Octavia Lindsey didn't say much as she entered the courtroom.

Detective Matthew Guth with the De Pere Police Department took the stand.  He's the officer who questioned both Lindsey and the man who was allegedly stabbed after the two met at her apartment.

Investigators say it's instances like this that only help to reinforce why people need to be safe online.

"If you're on Craigslist and you're going to meet up with somebody for whatever reason it's a best bet to have another person there with you," said Captain Kevin Warych with the Green Bay Police Department.

They say you should always meet in a public place.

"It's really going to only protect the inner person, but it's also going to just make sure everybody else is safe," said Captain Warych.

Officers say trust your gut.  If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't.

"If a person is talking on Craigslist and the other person asks to come over late at night, that should be a big sign that you should not go over to that residence," said Captain Warych.

Lindsey is expected to be back in court for her arraignment August 22.
