The tornado sirens sounded twice on Thursday as a test in conjunction with Severe Weather Awareness Week. Schools and families practiced their safety plans, but what would you do if you weren't at home when the dangerous weather hit?

Businesses like the Exclusive Company in downtown Green Bay have a plan in place to protect their customers.

"Well we're fortunate enough we're located in this very old building that has the basement ceilings made out of concrete. We would bring them downstairs in that area," said Manager Tom Smith.

Interior rooms or basements are the best choices for safety no matter where you are, but sometimes you don't have the option, like when you're on the road. According to the National Weather Service, tornadoes claimed 36 lives in 2015. 10% of those victims were in vehicles.

"Get into a ditch, somewhere in a low lying area so they don't open themselves up to be more susceptible to the tornado that's coming if they stay in their vehicle," advised Captain Kevin Warych of the Green Bay Police Department.

It's always recommended to have a weather radio to keep you alert and ahead of the storm.
