UW-Green Bay preserved school history on Wednesday by creating a time capsule as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.

Students and faculty placed campus newspapers, Phoenix mascot gear and shoes from the shoe tree on campus into a container. It will be opened when UWGB turns 100-years-old.

"I hope the future the 2065 faculty and students on this campus open it up and see just a snapshot of history, of our campus at this time, and are able to say, 'Wow, look how far we've come,'" said UWGB Director of Development Tracy Heaser.

The time capsule has been sealed today, but you can still see it on display in the Coffrin Library.
