After the tragedy in Manchester, many are thinking about their safety at events or concerts in Northeast Wisconsin.

Resch Center leaders said Tuesday they have three security methods in place: walk-through metal detectors, metal-detecting wands and security officers searching bags by hand.

However, it's up to the promoter of the event to decide how many of those methods and which type they will use, according to Terry Charles, corporate communications manager for the Resch Center.

They are always evaluating and re-evaluating their security plan, Charles said. For events, off-duty, armed Brown County Sheriff's deputies patrol inside and outside the arena.

But anytime something happens at another venue, like the tragedy in Manchester, it's concerning, he said.

"It always causes us to take a step back and say ok are we doing the right thing and can we firm anything up," Charles said.

According to Green Bay Packers management, the team also is constantly reviewing safety measures. They released a statement Tuesday saying:

The Packers regularly review safety programs at Lambeau Field with our local law enforcement partners, as well as the NFL and federal agencies, to ensure we have best practices in place for our visitors.

In addition to football games, thousands will pack Lambeau Field in June for the Billy Joel concert.

Another major concert event in Wisconsin has expressed confidence in its security system following the attack. Summerfest leaders released a statement saying:

Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. sends our heartfelt sympathy to all those impacted by the events in Manchester, England.

In line with all other major venues and stadiums such as Miller Park, BMO Harris Bradley Center and Lambeau Field, Summerfest will continue to use metal detection and bag checks procedures that were fully implemented for Summerfest 2016.  All visitors and employees will enter the festival through metal detection and should be prepared to comply with security screening requirements.  All bags are subject to inspection, prior to entering the Summerfest grounds.  No backpacks or bags larger than 9x10x12 will be allowed.

Summerfest has a comprehensive security plan that integrates multiple law enforcement agencies.  The safety of Summerfest patrons continues to be our highest priority.
