The victim of the deadly apartment fire in Plymouth has been identified as Tammy L. Aschenbach, 46, who had been missing.

The fire was reported just before 1 a.m. Thursday at an apartment building on Mill Street in the downtown area of the Sheboygan County city.

Fire officials said Aschenbach ran back into the building to look for her children. However, her three children had already made it out safely.

"Our sincerest condolences go out to her family and friends," the Plymouth Police Department wrote on Facebook.

The area around 408 E. Mill Street will be closed to the public as the fire investigation continues into next week.

The building at 414 E. Mill has been released to the owners, police said, but the displaced victims of 404 and 410 E. Mill Street are still being assisted by the Red Cross.

East Mill Street reopened Friday, but will close again on Monday and Tuesday when the investigation resumes, police said.

Local businesses and schools are working on where people can donate to help Aschenbach's family.
