An airsoft gun caused the lockdown of several Green Bay public and private schools Tuesday, according to Green Bay Police.

Just before 1 p.m., police received a report of 2 people with a gun in a vehicle near Bader St. and Deckner Ave near Preble High School.

Preble High School was placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Police eventually interviewed two male juveniles. One told police he had an airsoft gun and threw it out the vehicle window, police said.

No one was injured and the two juveniles did not shoot or point the airsoft gun at anyone, police said.

Green Bay Area Public School District released a statement saying:

Earlier today, due to suspicion of a weapon in the vicinity of Preble High School, as a precautionary measure several schools were placed in "secure the building," outside situation. Those schools included Preble, Baird, Danz, Froebel, Martin, McAuliffe, OAK Learning Center, and Wilder.

Eventually, Preble High School was placed in "secure the building," inside situation, while police continued to search for a potential weapon. Once the police were able to determine that there was no threat to students, “secure the building” was lifted at all schools.

School resource officers will continue to interview witnesses and work with the District Attorney's office to determine charges.
